Being Resolved To Maximize “TODAY”
May 24, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The president of a successful company was asked what it took to get to the top. “The same thing it took to get started,” he replied. “A sense od Urgency about getting s things done.”
Successful people in any realm are those who share a sense of urgency about their objectives.
It is significant that Jesus exemplified a sense of urgency about doing His Father’s will—”I must work the works of Him that sent Me while it is day…”(John 9:4). That same urgency is required od His followers. We are to be urgent about:
► Resolving conflict with other disciples (Matthew 5:23,24)
► Forgiving others (Luke 17:3-5
► Committing our lives to Christ (Luke 14:59-62)
► Assembling for worship (Hebrews 10:24,25)
► Preaching the Word (II Timothy 4:2)
The list is endless. A sense of urgency covers the whole of Christian living. The chorus from a popular hymn—”I am Resolves” – says it best. “I will hasten to Him hasten so glad and free…”
The church is composed of competent people who honestly intend to pray more tomorrow, to love more tomorrow, to “get involved” tomorrow. Christians, however, who may be less talented but who area blessed with a sense of urgency do more and live a positive example of discipleship.
Certainly it is to our advantage to heed this urgent plea: “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts…” (Hebrews 3:7)
